Replacement of Culvert 01-11.9 on County Road 1

This project is for the replacement of culvert 01-11.9 which is located on County Road 1 (Lucknow Line) at the intersection of Golf Course Road, running diagonally across the intersection. The existing structure is a 1.5m span concrete cast in place rigid frame culvert, which conveys runoff from the ditches and tiled fields, built in 1955.

Due to the poor condition of the culvert, replacement is recommended. Following hydrology and hydraulic investigations a precast box culvert with a span of 2.4m and height of 1.8m was proposed. The culvert ends will have cut-off walls and precast retaining walls to reduce future erosion and undermining of the structure.

Construction for the culvert replacement was awarded to VanDriel Excavating Inc. Construction is anticipated to commence in mid-June of 2025, with an estimated duration of 20 calendar days.

During construction, County Road 1 (Lucknow Line) will be fully closed at the intersection with Golf Course Road. Local traffic will be permitted on County Road 1 between Nile Road and County Road 25 (Blyth Road), but only up to the point of closure at Golf Course Road. There will be no access to or from Golf Course Road at County Road 1 during construction. A signed detour route will be in place via Nile Road and County Road 25 (Blyth Road).
