Consultation has concluded
This project is for the replacement of Major Culvert 15-22.1 on County Road 15 (Kinburn Line), 1.3km South of County Road 17. The existing structure is 2.7m diameter, 27.2m long corrugated steel pipe (CSP) conveying the Riley Municipal Drain.
Following geotechnical, hydrology and hydraulic investigations, a 3.3m diameter CSP culvert of similar length to the existing culvert was proposed. The culvert will have a polymer coating, which will increase the service life of the structure over that of a standard galvanized coated culvert. Sheet piling headwalls will also be installed to decrease the culverts chances of being undermined during its service life, and the guiderail system over top of the culvert will be updated from the current 3-cable wood post guiderail to steel beam with M.K.S.T. end treatments.
Construction for the culvert replacement was awarded to VanDriel Excavating Inc., they are expecting to mobilize to site on May 21, 2024 to start construction.
During construction County Road 15 will be fully closed to through traffic between Winthrop Road (County Road 17) and Summerhill Road. Access to properties within the closure zone will be maintained, but no traffic will be able to pass over the culvert location. The road closure is expected to start on May 21, 2024 with an estimated completion date of June 21, 2024.
The signed detour route will utilize County Road 15 (Kinburn Line), Hydro Line Road, County Road 4 (London Road), and County Road 15 (Londesboro Road). To keep up to date on road closures and detour route information please visit Municipal 511 <https://www.municipal511.ca/>.
