This project is for the replacement of culvert 25-10.8 which is located on County Road 25 (Blyth Road), 0.75km West of Pinery Line. The existing structure is a 1.55m span concrete cast in place open footing articulated culvert, which conveys runoff from the ditches and fields, built in 1955.
Due to the poor condition of the culvert, replacement is recommended. Following hydrology and hydraulic investigations a precast box culvert with a span of 1.8m and height of 1.8m was proposed. The new culvert will provide an 80 year service life and will improve hydraulic capacity. The culvert ends will have precast retaining walls to provide stability and reduce future erosion around the culvert ends.
Construction for the culvert replacement was awarded to VanDriel Excavating Inc. Construction is anticipated to commence in mid-July of 2025, with an estimated duration of 20 calendar days.
During construction, County Road 25 (Blyth Road) will be fully closed at the culvert location to facilitate the culvert replacement. Local traffic will be permitted on County Road 25 between County Road 1 (Lucknow Line) and Nile Road, but only up to the point of closure on County Road 25. A signed detour route will be in place via County Road 1 (Lucknow Line), County Road 15 (Londesboro Road), and County Road 8 (Base Line).
