This project is for the rehabilitation of Fitch’s Bridge (07-04.8) on County Road 7 (Howick Turnberry Road) 0.3km East of Powell Line. The structure is a 3-span slab on concrete girder bridge over the Maitland River, built in 1957.

Construction for the bridge rehabilitation was awarded to VanDriel Excavating Inc. Construction will commence on July 15, 2024 with an anticipated completion day of December 3, 2024. The scope of this rehabilitation includes patching, waterproofing and paving the bridge deck, localized concrete patch repairs to the abutments, girders and deck soffit. Replacement of the curb and parapet walls, expansion joint replacement, placing rock protection at the piers and abutment, and updates to the guiderail system.

Construction will be staged to allow for one lane of traffic to remain active at all times. Alternating traffic will be directed through the use of traffic lights. There will be a width restriction of 3.6 meters on the bridge. Please proceed with caution and obey all signage.
