County of Huron Official Plan - Proposed Amendment
The Council of the County of Huron initiated an Official Plan Amendment process for the purpose of updating the County of Huron Official Plan to reflect the direction of the new Provincial Planning Statement, issued by the Province of Ontario in October, 2024.
The Amendment will revise several sections of Huron County's Official Plan to bring the Plan into conformity with Provincial direction and make other updates including:
Enhanced direction for responding to impacts of a changing climate;
Reflect stronger direction for agricultural systems approach and need for agricultural impact assessments;
Further reflect County's Housing Friendly work to enhance flexibility for housing;
Align County policy with Provincial growth planning framework (eg. removal of comprehensive review requirements);
Enhanced requirements for early and meaningful consultation with Indigenous Nations; and
Update policy framework for energy related infrastructure.
The current Official Plan and proposed amendments are available under the 'Documents' tab.

The Public Meeting for this Amendment will be held on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 during the regularly scheduled session of Huron County Council, held at 1 Courthouse Square in Goderich, Ontario. Members of the public are welcome to participate in person or virtually. The link for virtual participation will be published at the time of the agenda.
