The Project
The County of Huron will be commissioning up to 6 artists to paint murals as part of the Huron County Mural Project. The project is a collaborative project between the County and the municipalities and communities where the mural will be located. The goal of the project is to enhance the cultural vibrancy of our communities and support ongoing tourism recovery in Huron County through public art.
The new murals will establish new focal points in six towns and villages in Huron County creating renewed visual interest and excitement in visiting and spending time in our business and retail cores.
A local selection committee will be responsible for selecting the artist and guiding the project in each of the participating communities. Each community will determine the location and size of their mural and will come up with a design concept and brief of the invited artists.
The completed murals will be packaged into an interactive digital mural trail and also be a source of increased social media engagement by providing photogenic backdrops for visitors to share on their social media platforms.
The creation, installation, and the process of creating the murals will be documented as part of a storytelling initiative.
The Locations
The six communities participating in the project are:
Bayfield
Clinton
Exeter
Goderich
Seaforth
Wingham
Be sure to check the murals - coming soon to a community near you!
