This project is for the rehabilitation of Boundary Bridge 14 (BB14) on Bannockburn Line, 0.8km South of County Road 13 (Bayfield Road). The structure is a concrete slab on concrete girder bridge over the Bayfield River, built in 1973.
Construction for the bridge rehabilitation was awarded to 5001630 Ontario Ltd. (Moran Contracting). Construction is anticipated to commence at the beginning of July 2026 with an anticipated construction length of 6 weeks. The scope of this rehabilitation includes isolated concrete patch repairs to the bridge deck, parapet walls, soffit, girders and abutments; extending the deck drains below the girders; replacement of the expansion joints; replacing or galvanizing the parapet wall handrails; replacing the approach guiderail; constructing a curb and gutter system with spillways at each quadrant of the bridge and adding erosion protection to the abutment.
During construction, Bannockburn Line will be fully closed at the bridge location to facilitate the bridge rehabilitation. Local traffic will be permitted on Bannockburn Line up to the point of closuring at the bridge. A signed detour route will be in place around the bridge via Vanastra Road, Airport Line and Bayfield Road. Please proceed with caution and obey all signage.
