What areas will be under construction?

Construction will take place in the commercially zoned areas of Main St. North from the Square to Catherine St., including extension of sidewalks adjacent to the commercially zoned areas of Charles St.

Where will there be parking during construction?

On street parking along Main Street during construction will be restricted in order to complete the construction works and parking will be limited to the block not being worked on (i.e., when working between Charles and Catherine parking will only be available on Main Street between Charles and the Clan Gregor Square. Side street parking, and parking around the Clan Gregor Square will be encouraged. Signage directing the public to available municipal parking areas will be posted.

Where do I put my BRA garbage and recycling bins for regular waste pick up during construction?

Garbage and Recycling bins should be put out in the usual location (i.e. Roadside or alley). The Contractor will ensure that the garbage and recycling are collected. It is requested that residents make note of the serial number on their wheelie bin or put a non-permanent marking (i.e. adhesive sticker with their address) on their wheelie bins rather than writing permanently onto the wheelie bin.

    When does construction finish?

Anticipated project duration is April 2022 through November 2022 with a break in construction activities in July and August. The final top coat of paving and deficiencies will be completed in May 2023.

What if construction activities damage my personal property or utility lines?

Please contact the Municipal Office to report damage to personal property or utility lines. Be sure to include details like what the damage is, when it was observed and the location. The Municipal Office will then report the claim to all necessary parties. The Contractor will be responsible to resolve all claims related to the project.

Will Bayfield Main Street remain accessible throughout construction?

The existing sidewalk will generally maintain the same level of accessibility as its pre-construction state until removal and replacement takes place.

Trees have been cut down from the construction area. Why were they removed? Will they be replaced, and if so, with what?

Trees are beloved to Bayfield. After consultation with Ron Koudys Landscape Architects it was decided by Ron Koudys Landscape Architects and BM Ross and Associates which trees would have to be removed. Trees were removed to make way for the proposed sidewalk location, proposed parking location and the installation of services and utilities. The following trees will be placed on Bayfield Main Street during the later phase of construction fall 2022.
