Library Leadership - Team Emotional Intelligence

Building on the Emotional Intelligence work we completed in 2025, I want to build our Team Emotional Intelligence in 2026. This can be defined as "Team EI is a group culture created by a set of norms that build a productive social and emotional environment that leads to cooperative interactions, collaborative work processes, and hastens effective performance."

Please complete this short survey to help us identify which areas we should focus our attention on first.

Thank You!

1.

There are clearly defined goals that all members support and an action plan for developing goals.

2.

Members understand what is expected of them and know their responsibilities.

3.

Meetings include clear agendas, active participation, and an effective way to track decisions and actions.

4.

We attempt to understand one another's needs, perspectives, skills and feelings. We understand what we need to know about one another to work together effectively.

5.

We involve all members and show that we care for and support them by treating them with respect.

6.

We address behaviour that we consider unacceptable or that harms the team's effectiveness.

7.

We regularly and consistently assess the effectiveness of our norms, processes, and performance.

8.

We seek out and create resources that enable members to more easily express their honest thoughts and feelings, even on difficult subjects.

9.

We intentionally take actions to help us stay hopeful, optimistic, and constructive, and maintain a can-do attitude in the face of day-to-day and larger challenges.

10.

We anticipate problems or challenges and actively work to prevent or address them. When a problem does arise, we take quick action to solve it.

11.

We take actions to help us understand the needs and concerns of our stakeholders and others who can provide resources that affect our performance.

12.

We actively build relationships with stakeholders and those who can provide resources that affect our performance.
