Which form should I be filling out?

There are three forms here: a proposal form, an FYI form, and a debrief form.

    Before the event:

Either the Proposal form, or the FYI form should be filled out.

If the program requires a budget (supplies, honorarium for a speaker/performer, other costs), or is going to potentially draw folks from other communities in the county, or is a virtual event, the Proposal form should be filled out.

If the program does not require a budget, and is small enough to not draw folks from other communities, you should get approval from your supervisor and then fill out the FYI form.

    Examples

    • Author Talk - Proposal form
    • County wide craft swap - Proposal form
    • in-branch storytime - FYI form
    • after school teen program - if you need supplies (budget) proposal form, if not, FYI form

If you aren't sure which form, ask your branch manager.

    After the event:

Whatever kind of event it is, it is always good to fill out the Debrief form because it creates a record of what worked and what didn't.

If I am doing a Series, do I fill out the form once, or for each session?

Filling out the form once for a series is fine.

Are these Deadlines set in stone?

They are not. They are designed to get folks thinking several months ahead so we have time to properly design and promote library events.

If there is an particular date (holiday season, a local fair, Freedom to read week, etc) that you have forgotten about that you would like to celebrate with a program, please give us as much notice as possible.

Is it ok if I don't do programming?

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and if you don't want to assist with programming, that is ok, but it is the responsibility of every team to come up with programming ideas, so as long as someone on your team is coming up with creative programming, and you are contributing to your team in other ways, that is ok.

If there are particular obstacles that you can identify, please reach out and we can discuss how to get past them.

What should I do if I have a question/Suggestion about the proposal process?
