Training to support newcomers to Canada in your community. Create social connections to help people feel welcome.
Locations: Huron County, Perth County, Lambton County, Middlesex County
Application deadline: March 6, 2022
About the training:
The training will help you build skills to create meaningful social connections. Topics covered will include:
How to navigate community resources
How to hold positive conversations to build connections, and
How to provide support to other immigrants and newcomers based upon people’s strengths and interests
Time commitment:
Complete online training over the course of four, 2 hour sessions
An opportunity, after completing training, to provide support to engage with immigrants and newcomers for up to 2 hours a week for a two-month period

After successfully completing the training, you will be invited to work alongside community partners to share information with newcomers and create new opportunities for social connections.
About the project:
The Huron County Immigration Partnership works with partners to assist immigrants in their settlement and integration process. We are working with service providers, Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health Connectedness Coaching's Program Providers, the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario and YMCA of Three Rivers, and other community partners. Together, we are support and building social connections for newcomers and engaging those who have previous experience supporting newcomers.
Volunteer responsibilities:
Participate in online training sessions
Submit your ideas and feedback about the training to the instructors
